Business Development: TOMRA Circular Economy division was established in 2019 with the aim to develop markets and business opportunities for the 2 business streams TOMRA Collection Solutions （TCS） and TOMRA Recycling （TRM） through promotion of circular economy for plastics as well as other materials. Our 2030 vision is to increase global collection rates for recycling of plastic packaging from 14% to 40% and closed loop recycling rates from 2% to 30% through promotion of deposit systems, mixed waste sorting and high-end recycling. China is a highly prioritized market for TOMRA.
1.Manage and ensure successful implementation of business development projects within the waste management and recycling sector according to overall strategic plan for TCE China.
2.Identify opportunities, develop solutions and promote city-level circular economy models for municipal solid waste and plastic packaging.
3.Create and manage external relations network at the city level （government departments, local state-owned or private waste related enterprises, research institutes, NGOs, etc.） to ensure successful project implementations.
4.Become/act as a circular economy expert （within assigned fields） and cooperate with externa/internal piers.
5.Contribute to market mapping and strategic processes with the Local, Asian and Global TCE teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1）Market mapping: Map market situation for plastic （and other materials） recycling and waste management in targeted cities/segments in China. Including collection rates, recycling rates, waste composition, value chain analysis, stakeholder mapping, laws and regulations, production volumes, etc.
2）Strategy and reporting: Identify and prioritise business development opportunities in cooperation with the local TCE team. Develop project strategy/plan and execute assigned projects and report on these.
3）Establish/promote solutions: Establish CE solutions with a holistic perspective suitable for the local environment. Promote this to authorities, public/private stakeholders thorough suitable channels/formats. This work includes drafting up processing flows with mass balance and business plans for material recovery facilities and recycling plants, in addition to addressing the waste collection systems, logistics and overall waste processing infrastructure （incineration, organic treatment, etc.）. Evaluate different alternatives vs recycling rates, GHG emissions, total cost and compliance with government set targets and guidelines, etc. Be an expert and position TOMRA as an impact leader in CE.
4）Networking: Facilitate cooperation between suitable local and international players （public and private） to establish full value chain for closed loop recycling and successful project implementation. Work with local government to establish enabling policies and frame conditions for the project.
5）Execute pilot projects: Lead development projects with partners towards successful project implementation within collection, waste/recyclable sorting and/or high-end recycling. Organizes and facilitates working group meetings and other forms of assemblies related to the projects, reports on this to the stakeholders and makes sure that obstacles are dealt with efficiently. Align and cooperate with relevant internal departments from TCS and TRM.
1.Technical university degree, preferable: mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or environmental protection. Additional business/commercial knowledge is a plus.
2.〉7 years’ work experience: business development, consulting, project management or government affairs, etc. Experience in waste management, sanitation services, waste incineration or recycling sector is a big plus.
3.Proven ability to work with Chinese municipal government and other high-level stakeholders, hands on experience and understanding of the legislative process and political environment in China is a big plus.
4.Experience in external stakeholder and relationship management and building coalitions.
5.Good communication skills both verbal and writing, good presentation and interpersonal skills
6.Technical understanding, analytic and business oriented.
7.Creative, innovative, ‘thinking out of the box‘ mentality, solution finder.
8.Agile, self-starter with an ability to work autonomously.
